FinTech in focus at ITAS
October 14, 2016
The ITAS conferences provide the global transfer agency community with a platform to discuss the major issues of the day, and next week's Dublin event will be no different. The disruptive impact of FinTech has not gone unnoticed, with the influence of these new technologies being felt broadly through the financial services industry, and so it finds itself very high up the agenda. On the 18th October Idea Group's CEO, Bill Gourlay, will moderate a panel entitled "Technology as a disrupter, which will include Chris Sperber (Oracle), Ed Falzon (Morgan Stanley), Richard Street (Royal Bank of Canada) and John Salmon (Hogan Lovells). The panel will address many of the headline claims of the FinTech community, looking to identify the areas where change really is likely to arrive, whilst also highlighting where the hype outweighs the truth.
Bill commented; "We play an important role in the creation of FinTech products, but our rationale is that we must always use our business knowledge to ensure that we are building a solution to a problem that the industry actually has. Many of the new entrants into the space fall into the trap of identifying some cool technology, developing it, but then wondering what this can be used to solve. In our session we'll examine some of the claims of the FinTech community and try to separate the fact from the fiction."
